After three and half years of building Citi Field, it was christened on April 13,2009. The Mets were playing the lowly Padres, Mike Pelfrey was on the mound. Jody Gerut who seems he can hit homeruns against the Mets jacked a homerun into the MoZone. In the seventh David Wright homered the second Citi Field homer. The Mets bullpen would eventually give the game away. The upside of Citi Field is that it is very contemporary and vastly spread out. The downside is that it has less seats than Shea, their concession stands are slow, the Mets can't hit homeruns here, and it is unlucky. A friend of mine went to one of the first games and he said that the Nathan's stands wasn't cooking the french fries and chicken tenders at the same time. He also said that he went to another game later in the year and asked for a hot dog he got a half-eaten cheese covered hot dog when he only asked for a plain hot dog. There are less seats than Shea and they are very expensive. The Mets can't hit homeruns. Is becasue they don't have a homerun hitter on their team or the contemporary stadium. Hitting a homerun into the MoZone to the Mets is like hitting one over the Green Monster. It is unlucky because almost every player on the Mets got hurt. It all started with Jose Reyes having a day-to-day injury . He missed the rest of the season, Carlos Beltran didn't start his season until after the All Star Game, Johan Santana who the Mets thought was Iron Man went down late August. This year David Wright was the Iron Man he missed the least amount games and when he got hurt he got beaned by a Matt Cain fastball. Even though Citi Field is nice it has its flaws just like the Mets.
