How the Tigers have gotten over Game 163
When ex-Met Carlos Gomez came around to score in the ninth inning in game 163 all of Detroit was shocked. So many misfortunes had happened in so little time. The collapse in September that didn't let them run away with the AL Central Title, AL Rookie of the Year Award nominee Rick Porcello was no longer the rookie who goes seven and bullpen puts it away. He was now a man. No more rookie baffles even though he is only twenty he came up young so he will get beat up young. When he is like twenty-four and the rest of his draft class is coming up to the majors he won't have rookie butterflies he might even be the ace. Now how of the Tigers gotten over that game? Well first of all the Twins were swept by the Yankees so now they know they didn't miss out on a World Series. Rick Porcello could be the AL Rookie of the Year and AL strikeout leader Justin Verlander could win either AL Comeback Player of the Year or even better the AL Cy Young! One more reason is that centerfielder Curtis Granderson has won the Marvin Miller Award for his actions in his community. Even though they let the title get away it was still a great season with many memorable plays, games, moments, and memories.
