As everyone knows fantasy sports is an online game where you draft different players and you get points based on how they perform. I will post ten fantasy previews between now and April second. Each post I will supply different strategies and countdown from #50 to #1. And I will also have a special segment each time.
Strategies for 2010:
Never take a pitcher in the first round let other "managers" take pitchers that go every fifth day while you take an everyday player.
Don't clot the same positions on your team. On Opening Day you won't be able to decide between the 2 players - Joe Mauer and Yadier Molina.
In the draft take players that you could potentially trade later in the year.
Take schedule into consideration. Will you really want to have a pitcher who faces powerhouse teams like the Phillies, Yankees, Marlins, Cardinals, and Rangers. Look for pitchers that face low scoring teams such as the Mets, Cubs, Giants, Orioles, and Blue Jays.
Also include home ballpark layout and outfield depth. Don't take chances on players on the Padres,(Adrian Gonzalez is an exception) Athletics, Mets, and teams with new stadiums. Try to take players that play in bandbox parks such as the Yankees, Phillies, Reds, and Rangers.
Player Countdown:
#50: Joe Saunders
#49: Josh Willingham
#48: Jorge Posada
#47: Hideki Matsui
#46: Orlando Cabrera
#45: Hank Blalock
Special Segment:
Commissioners How to Run a Draft and The Second Team
Make sure that you put yourself as the first pick of the draft. This is a way of saying my draft my choice. Also if your league allows you make a second team and put it as the last or second to last pick. This allows you in snaking drafts to get the first pick every round. In the draft use your second team to take players that you want but won't be available when it gets to you. A simple post draft trade is all you need. Use your second team as a garbage can for slumping players instead of wasting places on your roster or dropping them and potentially losing them to another team.
