For the first time this year, the Dolphins will not be ranked #32, they will be ranked #31. Yesterday, replacement Matt Moore and the 'Phins, swam their way to victory by eluding the Chiefs' fishing lines. After a hideous 0-7 start, the Dolphins finally will have a whole number in the win column. The Dolphins have come close to winning many times this year, so I think those almost wins can count as 1/8 of a win. I was expecting the Dolphins to be in the Bills hooves, and be a surprise team out of nowhere to take the division. The past few years, the Dolphins have always been a thorn in the side to all AFC teams hoping for the playoffs, especially the Jets. Even when the Dolphins were visibly out, they continued to play hard, just to make clinching a spot even harder. I think the Front Office went wrong letting Ronnie Brown go. Brown was the heart and soul of the offense. Whether he was in the Wildcat formation or simply taking a handoff, Brown was an explosive spark that powered the offense. I guarantee that if Brown was still here, the Dolphins would be in the hunt.
Eli's Curtain Call
Once again, Eli Manning led the Giants on a 4th quarter comeback against the Patriots to win. For the first time since Super Bowl XLVIII, Belichick and Coughlin clashed heads, as their teams went out to play a brutal dogfight for the victory. At the Super Bowl, the Giants and Patriots had the same uniforms they had on yesterday. When Eli hit tightend, Jake Ballard, over the middle during their last possession, the play resembled so much of the Tyree play. With Eli scrambling his way away from the New England neanderthals and a dangerous throw to a receiver tightly covered, I could feel the Arizona heat instead of Foxboro's subarctic temperatures. Maybe this is the Giants's year after all. This year has been full of irony from their magical and improbable postseason run. Remember when the Giants dropped the first 2 games of the 2008 season and everyone said that Eli, Tommy Coughlin, and the season were all over? Well, that happened after a Week 1 loss, as they were headed to play Philly. They overcame that. When the Giants played the Cardinals a couple weeks ago, it was their return to the stadium where confetti poured onto them. And then, there was yesterday. A couple of weeks ago, I predicted a Packer-Lion NFC Championship, but don't be surprised if there is a rematch of the 2008 game.
